Ike Davis has Character Off the Field As Well
Posted by Matt Pignataro
Yesterday in the NY Post, Kevin Kernan caught up with Ron Davis, father of Mets prospect Ike Davis.
Ron Davis on his son's future playing career:
“I believe he’ll play 10-15 years in the big leagues without a problem... I know he’s a great defensive first baseman, has a lot of power and I know he’ll keep his average up. Most guys are going for stats, but he’ll do things to sacrifice for the team. The Mets definitely got a winner.”
In the article we find out Ike's character off the field, as Ron Davis told Kernan that during the Arizona Fall League, Ike would spend his evenings with his close friend Michael Lio, who recently died of Ewings Sarcoma.
This definitely speaks of Ike Davis's character on and off the field. Baseball needs more guys like this.
I've heard nothing, but great things in talking with people who know him personally and ASU baseball staff members about Ike. Sounds like a great guy, who shouldn't have any problem playing in New York.![]()
